Day 8 - 17/6/21
Horrible night yesterday. Slept barely for few hours. On the positive side saw early morning after a long time. Entire day i felt like i was under mild intoxication. Took two interviews, one candidate i found suitable for the PE role. But something was not all right. He left Amazon, Luxembourg, and came back to India without job. Did i miss anything there ? We could not play today because Bobby died today and it would have been socially inappropriate to play. Life if unfair and tough. There are no two thoughts about it. We should not take any thing for granted. Thats what life keeps reminding us day after day.
Finished the 'Lean Stratup' book today. I would say its an old wine in a new bottle. I dont know how this book became so famous. There are very limited takeaways. And the takeaways are not something eye opening or very insightful. Any one who would have worked in both automobile and software sectors, these concepts would have been intuitive.
Following are the key takeaways:
1. Build MVPs the product which is build fast and tests the business hypothesis. It consists of the features that are appreciated by the customer and nothing else. It's very raw and basic. Focussing on quick customer feedback.
2. MVP will enable faster feedback loop of - Build - Measure - Learn. Does it ring a bell ? PDCA :). Use split tests, that provided different customers with different features and test the features/hypothesis.'
3. Use correct actionable metrics. Metrics are people too. Use this to identify and measure metrics.
4. After the business hypothesis is tested with MVP, pivot or persevere. Stick to same strategy and make further improvements in the product or change the product strategy may be completely based on customer feedback.
5. Use lean tools to optimize the products. Such as work in a single flow processing instead of batch processing. Single flow will help to provide feedback much faster and wont take to wait for the entire batch to be ready for the actual feedback. Andon cord - Stop the feature having issue and eliminate it then and there.
Its 300 pages long and boring compilation of authors not so innovating POV.
